"Morning Ritual" 2024 mixed media on canvas
Each morning I sit down to paint two or three small works in watercolor or gouache. This daily ritual helps me process unrest and turn it into images. The practice is steady and repetitive, but it keeps me honest and grounded.
Most of the images I create reflect what troubles me: how this country has slipped into authoritarian rule, the erosion of constitutional norms, or how privilege and influence protect individuals from the law. Some pieces wander into books I’m reading, art I’ve seen, music that inspires me, or walks through the forest.
Over time, these pages form a record of resistance and reflection. They show how art can carry both personal struggle and political meaning, while also honoring the beauty of living in this world.
